CD Players - So you have a large selection of CDs, and you'd rather bring some cds instead. Well, don't feel left out. You can do that too. Dust off that cd player and bring it along. What? You can't find it? Well, the prices are much better than when you bought yours. The technology is better too.
Portable DVD Players - Watching movies on the road can provide hours of entertainment. Imagine watching a couple of 2 hour movies and by the time you look up, your trip is over. This can also help keep the kids quiet. Wouldn't that be nice? Some of them come with a nice accessory bundle too. For example, some models come with dual headphones, remote control, a car adapter, and audio/video cables. Well, for those of you who don't yet have an entertainment system installed in your vehicle, and this sounds like fun, there are lots of models you can choose from!
Video Games - So, you're a gamer....or know someone who is. They can be really addictive. These games have evolved so much that the graphics will make your head spin. When seen on TV, sometimes it's hard to tell a real commercial from a video game unless you look really hard.
Toys - What better keeps a small child entertained than a new toy? You can buy it and put it away, and then pop it out during the trip. The kids will be mesmerized for quite a while. If you have more than one child, try buying different toys for each of them, and then have them rotate the toys (hopefully they will cooperate) to let the others play with them. Now, this is not always a sure thing, but it can help. We have some great suggestions for portable toys you can easily take with you when you travel. The toys are broken down by age so we have Travel toys for Tots and Travel toys for Kids.
Laptops - Gone are the days when laptops were no match for their desktop counterparts. Almost nobody had one because they were expensive, heavy and had about half the capability as a desktop. Boy have things changed. Now, the desktops are great for stationary computing and are much cheaper than they used too, but laptops are quickly becoming the norm. They are portable and have more features and computing power than ever before. A laptop would be ideal to take on a trip. You can have a wireless connection (a paid service) while traveling the country. You can surf the internet for pleasure, or check your email for business. Whatever you need, you can get the best of both worlds all while being wireless.
GPS - Now that everyone has something to keep them busy, how about some help for the drivers out there. If you decide to drive to your family reunion, and hate reading maps, or don't have OnStar, here is a neat alternative to getting turn by turn driving directions. Try a GPS (Global Positioning System). GPS is widely used in navigation worldwide, and has proven to be a tool for map-making, land surveying, commerce, and other scientific stuff. NEVER GET LOST AGAIN!! There are small handhelds, dash mounts, and wide screens available for you mapping pleasure.
