Party Supplies...
Thinking about having a party at your next family reunion? Why not try something different and go with a party theme? Themes can be fun if done right. Really get in the mood, with the right decorations, invitations, food and music.
For example, you could do a Hawaiian theme, complete with a luau and everything. Your family could dress in floral shirts, grass skirts, and even play Hawaiian music and dance the hula! You could go exotic and menu could be tropical seafood & chicken kabobs, tropical mango pork roast, pineapple boats, and an array of Hawaiian tropical drinks.
For a western theme, you could have your family dress in cowboy gear complete with boots, shirts, and 10 gallon hats. Have some country western music and try a little line dancing. For the menu, fried catfish, bbq ribs and potato salad are in order.
For African theme, you could have traditional African dancers, music, food, and decorations. So, maybe an African safari theme would be in order. Think about animals that are native to Africa, such as zebras, giraffes, lions, tigers, etc. The menu can consist of African squash and yams, plantains in coconut milk, chicken and groundnut(peanut) stew and Maharagwe (Swahili sweet red beans).
A Mexican theme is popular as well. You could have tacos, mexican pizzas, quesadillas, and burritos, and then get things hopping with some lively salsa music. Fill a giant pinata with candy and let the kids go wild trying to hit it to free the candy. Be sure to use a blindfold with a plastic bat so that no one gets really hurt.
It would also be great to center family reunion activity around someone's birthday or anniversary. What a nice way to honor treasured family members, especially seniors who has contributed a lot to the family. So, give them the respect they deserve, and they will love you for it!
